About the show:
Shot in different locations over the course of 6 months, this personal look-back over my body of work not only helped me shed old skin and move into 2021 with fresh blood, but also gives the viewer a clear perspective on the development of my writing and how it translates to me personally, years later. Including many wonderful guests and surprise performers, spine-tingling impromptu choirs and candid stories, this is a concentrated and beloved project I’m proud to share with you.
We all know what 2020 was like, here’s how I grasped the year.. the one that shook everything up.
Onwards we go, reflecting along the way.
Love, Wallis x
This Saturday, I will perform my 2016 album 'Home' from my home-studio!
https://wallisbird.loveyourartist.store/en/
This album was a big one for me, winning 'Composer Of The Year' in Germany's prestigious 'Musik Autoren Preis' and also a nomination for ‘Album Of The Year’ in Ireland's Choice Music Prize. We did a massive 120 date tour all around the world for that album and we finished it off with a nomination for 'Artist Of The Year' at the Folk Alliance International awards. It’s rare that I gloat but that was a good couple of years for me... I worked real hard.
Now, self congratulations over 🥳
WIN TICKETS:
Tag me in your Story / Post singing the SECOND single from ‘Home’ in the WORST possible way and the winner will get 2 tickets to the show... BAD PERFORMANCES ONLY!
P.S: I’m not telling you what the single is! 😉
• ‘Home’
• Retrospective Sessions 5/6
• November 7th
• 8pm CET
...And from Architect, we move forward to ‘HOME’ 🏡
https://wallisbird.loveyourartist.store/en/
Originally it’s working title was ‘Hōm’ to signify the mediation Om, then it became HΩM for the symbol of electrical resistance, then I just got rid of any resistance with symbols or confusion over how it sounds and let the (million clichés and meanings) of the word HOME to flow.
In architect I was building the house I wanted, and that was contentment with myself and my life, and Tracey - she made my house a home.
There she is on the cover!
Swipe for more photos from my 2016, the year of Bowie, Prince, Aretha, George, Victoria Wood and laughing Lenny... and still it wasn’t close to as brutal as 2020 😭

Architect is coming!
This is one album I’m REALLY (seriously) looking forward to recording. The songs are so raw to me right now. Still some of my all time favourite songs I’ve made, ‘I Can Be Your Man’, ‘Holding a light’, ‘The Cards’ and ‘Girls’. I’m deep in organising mode and loving it. We’re in an UNREAL location this time, but I'll tell you more about that next week! This will be my favourite show, I’m sure of that. The ideas are melting out of my brain...... 🤯

Ahead of tomorrow night's 3rd Retrospective Session, I'm thrilled to share with you this gorgeous version of 'In Dictum' with none other than @doddleoddle and @orlagartland. Last November, we sang this together (unrehearsed!) in Bush Hall, London and the moment they came in with their harmonies I got the big shivers! Confident, harmonious and full of depth, their voices took this song to another plane. I couldn’t have asked for more, so - Enjoy it ❤️

Retrospective Sessions - Chapter 3/6 - Wallis Bird at Alte Försterei
Aaah! We had so much fun recording this week's Retrospective Session in Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Tune in this Saturday at 8pm CEST
Retrospective Sessions - Chapter III/VI - 05-09-2020
As I prepare for my 3rd Retrospective Session of my (lovingly called) Blueface album ‘Wallis Bird’ (2012), here’s some unseen photos from the Album shoot with Jens Oellermann Fotografie 📸
I go back many years with Jens, since 2008. We always work fun and work hard. It’s important to grow up with the people in this industry. It is a family. Documenting their depth of talent, experience and loyalty growing across their profession over the years has been one of my most favourite and defining career achievements. Go Team!

New Boots went better than I had imagined :) With a wonderful team you can make magic happen. The first half of the show was all sorts of movement in all sorts of rooms, all sorts of light, all sorts of songs - and all one take. After that I invited my friends to the dome where we sang our hearts out as one. F%$kin vibe and connection was unreal. At the end of the second half, the very last chord of the 10 minute improvised Gregorian choir, all 7 of us sang a note so perfect that there was no deviation in the waveform, we climbed onto one wave. Live and die by those moments y’know.

Aidan and I recorded a new version of ‘Measuring Cities’ in a gorgeous part of town, nestled amongst water, trees, blossoms, children, animals and butterflies, we managed to capture the cityscape in this recording. I think it’s special. So much of the last few months has been indoors, away from life, so the world being heard on the track gives a small bit of balance back, some colour 🌳

'THE CIRCLE' - OUT NOW
Tomorrow night I will be performing my very first album 'Spoons' from start to finish, with a few tricks up my sleeve 😜 As part of these monthly Retrospective Sessions, I have decided to rework and release a song from each album.
This month, we are looking back at my very first album ‘Spoons’ so I chose to revisit ‘The Circle’. It’s a good summation of my life (friends, jam sessions, late nights and love!) To my surprise over the years it was often called a flagship song in my career. I’ve been lucky enough to have seen the tattoos of these lyrics on people’s bodies, have had it covered by artists more than any other song and it was even used in a school exam! So, I guess this song has taken a life of its own and I’ve decided to thank it by re-releasing it, 14 years later. Reliving old memories in a new skin❤️

Have any burning questions you would like to ask me? Submit them in the link below and I will answer in Chapter I/VI of my Retrospective Sessions on July 4th!
‘Repeal’ Remixes
Today, I am happy to share with you two unique remixes of my song ‘Repeal’ from Danish DJ Kasper Bjørke and German electronic and techno producer Aparde. In this song, I documented the Irish Abortion Referendum from the perspective of speaking up about our need for a vote, to speaking to each other to instil our reasons for needing the law to change, and finally voting, waiting for the result and the animalistic release that came afterwards. Irish History was forever changed on the 25th of May 2018. Yes, I’m a month later than the date, but there’s never a wrong time to show reflection and colours. I hope you enjoy these special remixes; Kasper’s version is chill and driving throughout whereas Aparde’s is dark and trippy! Follow the link below to hear how others received this story. Thanks a million, and I love you Wallis X https://umg.lnk.to/Repeal_Remixes

Retrospective Sessions Announcement
Over the past 14 years I have released 6 studio albums, and have been lucky enough to have shared the work with some extremely talented and exciting people. It’s been an overwhelmingly full journey. Especially in the last few months, I’ve had time to stop, look back, and recognise just how important my connection to others is through music and memory. So together with my team, we’re doing something a bit different:
I’ll perform each album in full in special one-off monthly online concerts
6 albums, 6 concerts, 6 months!
Every album, start to finish.
Starting in July, I will begin these ‘Retrospective Sessions’. There will be original and new performing guests, I’ll answer any burning questions you have, I’ll share important back stories and information, LOTS of nostalgia, and of course the embarrassing throwbacks, all recorded live in super high quality for your experience. Tickets will be available for each show from this Saturday. I have never done anything like this before. Let's get together once more!
To get us into the spirit for these video concerts, I will play some songs from where it all began- my VERY FIRST EP Branches Untangle. This free, warm up concert is on June 6th at 20:00 CEST on Facebook and YouTube.
Here are the full concert dates:
June 6th - Branches Untangle (2006) - Free
July 4th - Spoons (2007)
August 1st - New Boots (2009)
September 5th - Wallis Bird (2012)
October 10th - Architect (2014)

Thanks a million to Mark Graham from The Irish Music Industry Podcast for a great interview. He gave a really good interview and as usual, he doesn’t shy from a well versed, candid and wise question. A pleasure to be part of his interview roster, his podcast is a must for Irish industry folk.

Wallis Bird performs at WDR Rockpalast
Earlier this month, Wallis performed at the legendary WDR Rockpalast festival. This was a very special show because Wallis performed with Irish trio Wyvern Lingo as her band. Check out this great stream of the full concert below:
